The MONTREAL Hotel Y and Auberge YWCA
Where You Stay Can Make a Difference
The Hotel Y Montreal and Auberge YWCA offer one of the best deals on accommodations in downtown Montreal. The difference between staying at the YWCA or elsewhere is that all profits help support the YWCA Montreal’s mission and develop services for women and girls.
Benefiting from the noticeable increase in tourism this year due to the celebrations marking Montreal’s 375th anniversary, our hotel facilities experienced a record year. In 2017-2018, net revenues from our accommodations reached more than $450,000. More than 15,000 guests, men and women alike, stayed in one of 62 rooms at the Montreal Y Hotel and Auberge YWCA. By staying at the YWCA, our guests generated essential revenue that will be used to build a better future for women and girls. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all our guests.
A RECORD YEAR
More than 6,150 doubly responsible purchases were made in our boutique – by shopping here, customers are promoting clothes recycling and helping young women with little formal education integrate into the workforce. The $100,000 or so in revenue generated by these sales marks an increase in 44% over the previous year; this is an all-time record since the opening of our boutique. Profits are directly reinvested in the employability programs.
Generous corporate and individual donors have allowed us to offer a good variety of quality garments. We collected used garments from seven companies and would like to gratefully acknowledge the collaboration and productive partnership with Montreal’s Dress for Success. In addition, 8 partners donated new clothing, including significant donations from Tristan and Deuxième Édition.
Our social media broadcasting strategies continue to be successful: The Fringues Friperie Facebook page now has 3,088 followers, who use this platform to keep up-to-date on our sales and special events.
The YWCA, A Unique Place to Learn
Each year, the YWCA welcomes on and supervises a number of interns from various university and college training programs. This year, 20 interns chose to complete their training with us and were instrumental in helping us reach the objectives of our various services. In return, we gave them the opportunity to live a supervised work experience. This collaboration with educational institutions is meaningful for us and we are grateful for their invaluable contribution.
Our Online Community is Booming
